The study is based on the example of applying the notion of social representation in cross cultural comparison. The target of the article is to prove the validity of using social representations applied on the notion of culture. The article relies on a comparison study between French and Slovak cultures based on an analysis of French and Slovak respondents’ social perceptions and representations of the other culture. It is divided in three parts. The first one gives a definition of the notion of social representation. The second part enumerates the fields where social representation is usually applied. The third part presents the results of the application of social representations in the comparison study between French and Slovak cultures.
