Descr. články - journal articles Language English Country Slovak Republic Annotation This article focuses on loans from English which appear in specialized, creative-industry-related texts and are widely used in Slovak and Francophone language and cultural contexts. This is despite the continuous efforts of the Délégation générale à la langue française et aux langues de France to create original French terms using linguistic means characteristic of the French language. The author outlines a method of translating loan terms, particularly when translating from Slovak into French, and presents a terminological record for the loan word startup, including various possible equivalents of the term that take the language policy of the target language into account.
