Forests are leading matrices of sustainable inputs, as they convert environmental energy into renewable materials. Whether from intensive silviculture or native forest management, wood became a valuable bio-material for the industry. Boosted by high industrialization and marked by versatile uses, woody products have been designed to replace unsustainable solutions. In response to the sustainable needs of recent sanitary and environmental crises, this paper seeks to clarify the potentials of timber forest products. From the literature review, global plans revealed neglected obstacles faced by less developed nations. Recommendations and actions were suggested to promote sustainable goods as the main engine for the bio-economic development of nations. As mineralized solutions still dominate markets worldwide, a turnaround attitude may address regional and global obstacles through more sustainable practices and goods.
