It will become an undesirable crutch for language learner. It does, in fact help the user to understand, not just one language, but many. Yet it is the equivalent of the calculator as a nuisance for math teachers trying to teach the multiplication table. This will mean that the future of language learning will need to be in a more highly controlled setting (i.e. in-class time or in a controlled language lab). It must be differentiated between understanding a language and learning a language. We all now have the ability to understand the 64 different languages that Google translates to a certain degree of understanding. This is, in no way, the same as knowing a language.
