NoteThe Centre for the Advancement of Women in Politics and the Institute of Governance, Public Policy and Social Research at Queen's University Belfast was awarded a research grant by the European Commission's Framework Five Programme in November 2002 to co-ordinate a ten country comparative study of Enlargement, Gender and Governance (known by the acronym EGG). The aim of the project has been to analyse the extent to which representative institutions and other organizations enable women's participation and representation in the political decision-making of EU candidate countries.
