Nevertheless, he is a relatively unknown personality in zoology and nature conservation. He published in many popular and scientific journals such as "Vadászlap", "KarpathenPost", "Die Karpathen", "A Természet", "Sylvia", "Aquila" and "Lovec". Bethlenfalvy promoted the establishment of the Tatra National Park despite a negative response from the local population which resulted in protest meetings and articles in the local press. Ernest Bethlenfalvy was an advocate for the protection of the Eurasian otter (Lutra lutra L) and endorsed this in several articles and chapters of his publications.
