Descr. kapitoly v knihe - book chapters Language English Country Poland Annotation This chapter deals with human mobility within the territory of the European Union which is often (but not accurately) called “an area without frontiers”. We briefly introduce what it means when we talk over “free movement of persons in the European Union”. The free movement of persons in the European Union is closely connected to the Schengen area or the Schengen system as well as to the introduction of the Citizenship of the European Union – both have significantly strengthened the “internal” and “external” dimension of European Union migrations, which will be discussed in more detail. When discussing free movement of persons in the European Union context, it is vital to distinguish at least two types of migrations – non-work and work migrations or mobility. In this chapter, we do not pay attention to all types of migrations, and instead concentrate solely on migrations and mobility due to work related reasons. The section of the second chapter dealing with work or labour mobility focuses exclusively on EU citizens and EEA nationals within the European Union; and in juxtaposition, the last part of the second chapter deals with the labour immigration from the so-called third countries to the European Union, including the EU legislation covering this area.
