Based on theoretical assumptions and existing methodologies suggests the possibility to use the measurement of innovation performance in terms of self-governing regions at NUTS III level in Slovakia. Through the assessment of innovation performance and its individual dimensions can be assembled complex instruments suitable for the particular autonomous region. However, remains an open question whether all self-governing regions in Slovakia able to apply innovation policies relevant to their needs, just because of their current responsibilities and financial, human and technical resources.
