The authors call this phenomena "trade union paradoxes". It is assumed that these phenomena are influenced by social, political, societal and economic developments and have a direct impact on the operation and functioning of trade unions in Slovakia. They also influenced the internal decisions, systemic failures and mistakes made by trade unions over the last three decades of their existence under the conditions of the independent Slovak Republic (since 1993).
