Libéria Liberia Subsaharská Afrika Language Slovak Country Slovak Republic systematics 327 Annotation Liberia, which was from 80s of 20th century the focus of the destabilization for the whole region until the forced resignation of Charles Taylor in 2003, faces now challenges of reconstruction. The result of the elections in 2005 is definitely the watershed event in its contemporary history but still the beginning of the complex process of stabilization, especially when the expectations of the desperate population are so high. The aim of this article is to briefly describe activities of the new administration in four main fields of national reconstruction (public governance, security sector, department of justice and infrastructure) and outline the principal challenges of the further events in the country.
