Descr. články - journal articles Language French Country Italy Annotation The purpose of this paper is to present the results of our research concerning phrasemes from the point of view of intercomprehension in Romance languages - Italian, Spanish and French in comparison with Slavic languages (Slovak and Russian). This method provides access to the understanding of texts without speaking these languages. The question that arises is to what extent can general phrasemes (general language) and terminological phrasemes (professional language) be understood. It is important to make students, who are preparing for professional career, distinguish fixed expressions (phrasemes) from non-fixed (free) expressions (M. GROSS 1988, 1990). The starting point of this research is the corpus of the Italian newspapers Corriere della sera, Il Sole 24 Ore (6 months - section Economy and Finances). We compare the phrasemes of this basic corpus with the phrasemes of the French, Spanish, Slovak and Russian newspapers. Examples: a) tirare la cinghia (apretarse el cinturón, se serrer la ceinture); b) collo di bottiglia (cuello de botella, goulot d´étranglement), denaro facile (dinero facil, argent facile). We also pay particular attention to the difficulties and pitfalls of understanding from the point of view of translation (Ex.: multa salata, facture salée) which differs from Slovak, mother tongue (mastná pokuta, literal translation [ ⃰amende grasse]) URL http://www.dorif.it/ezine/ezine_articles.php?art_id=429 Public work category ADE No. of Archival Copy 45663 Catal.org.
