This paper presents the assessment of the five phases of the park life cycle by IPAM methodology (Integrated Protected Area Management). Il-Majjistral life cycle management varied from weak (34% Networking) to effective (67% Basic planning), with total effectivity 49% showing major deficiencies. About 7% of the evaluated fields of activities showed significant deficiencies across management effectiveness indicators and hence lacking basic requirements to operate effectively and 24% activities were managing marginally. Based on this methodology, specifically recommendations steps with a high priority are proposed to increase management efficiency: overview specific plans, set up indicators of success, monitoring and benchmarking concept, new funding opportunity, assessment of social qualification of staff and their readiness to participate in networks. Expected effects of proposed measures is the integration of assessed area management into regional politics and development, protection and environmental education quality management improvement, public awareness increasement about the complex issues linked with the NP management, an effort to link assessed area management with tasks and tools of land planning and with the European standards and policies Public work category ADM No. of Archival Copy 42419 Repercussion category LUPU, G. - TUDOR, I.
