Also in Slovakia, the number of jackals considerable has increased significantly in the last decade and the species has become a permanent part of the Slovak fauna. The conservation status of this species in Slovakia, over the last 15 years has changed several times. Since 2014, his hunting season is from the 1. August to the end of February. According to Slovak hunting statistics, the official numbers and estimation of the golden jackal increased annually, from three individuals shot and 8 individuals reported in 2009, up to 44 shot and 444 reported individuals in 2019, representing approximately 15 times more the number of first culled data and 55 time more the individuals estimates. The natural expansion, the growing ranges, and the increase in numbers of the golden jackal in Slovakia in the last decades points to a need to improve the knowledge of the species and development management plan for this species.
