AnnotationI analyse the identified single-particle p(t) spectra and two-pion Bose-Einstein correlations from RHIC. They indicate a massive transverse expansion and rather short lifetime of the system. The quantitative analysis in framework of the blast-wave model yields, however, unphysical results and suggests that the model may not be applicable in description of two-particle correlations. I then discuss generalisations of the blast-wave model to non-central collisions and the question how spatial asymmetry can be disentangled from flow asymmetry in measurements of v(2) and azimuthally sensitive HBT radii.

AnnotationResults on the pion phase-space density at freeze-out in sulphur-nucleus, Pb-Pb and pi-p collisions at the CERN SPS are presented. All heavy-ion reactions are consistent with the thermal Bose-Einstein distribution f = [exp( E/T) 1](-1) at T similar to 120 MeV, modified for radial expansion. pi-p data are also consistent with f, but at T similar to 180 MeV and without radial flow. AnnotationWe argue that strong final state rescattering among the secondary particles created in relativistic heavy ion collisions is essential to understand the measured Bose-Einstein correlations. The recently suggested "random walk models" which contain only initial state scattering are unable to reproduce the measured magnitude and K-perpendicular to-dependence of R-perpendicular to in Pb + Pb collisions and the increase of R-l with increasing size of the collision system. AnnotationThe dimension of the region emitting particles in nuclear collisions can be determined by Hanbury-Brown and Twiss (HBT) correlations of identical particles. In this note we demonstrate that this dimension as determined by the HBT correlation of bremsstrahlung photons is larger than the actual one due to the photon formation length. Qualitatively r(2)-->r(2)+a/omega(2) where the last term is due to the formation length being proportional to 1/omega, where omega is the energy of the photon. This phenomenon permits to ''see'' experimentally the photon formation length.
