This term is commonly used in conjunction with the boundary between natural habitats, especially forests, and disturbed or developed land. The result of the edge effect of an increase in species diversity in the peripheral zone of the forest. It means to work out the content of geography in order to use it in practice. The standards would establish a wide range of topics which would be processed into target requirements. The region of Western Liptov is known for its vast register of protected areas of nature from national parks to natural monuments and protected vicinities. In this sense the region of Western Liptov belongs to the most significant parts of the territory of the Slovak Republic. This study is focused on the didactic utilization of protectected areas of Western Liptov which has significant geologic-geomorphologic elements in university education of geography and landscape ecology.
