AnnotationMicrocontrollers are becoming more and more popular at people of all ages. Microcontroller Arduino is widespread in the world. As it turned out at our Department of Computer Science, learning Arduino for beginners is sometimes difficult because working with Arduino requires some knowledge of hardware parts and programming skills. For beginners we teach, the most appropriate device is an educational board BBC micro:bit which offers programming in three different programming languages (block-coding similar to Scratch, JavaScript and MicroPython). Comparing to Arduino, different hardware components can be attached to BBC micro:bit, too. The board micro:bit consists of 25 individually-programmable LEDs, 2 programmable buttons, physical connection pins, light and temperature sensors, motion sensors, Bluetooth and many others. The article presents our experience with using this educational board BBC micro:bit to teaching programming at our extracurricular activity at the Department of Comput

AnnotationNowadays, it is not an easy way to motivate young people to learning Computer Science. Many times, we can hear in our country that employees working in the field of computer science are well-paid above the average. Nevertheless, there is still a deficiency and it does not cause enough motivation to learn this field. Sometimes just hearing "programming" is a demotivation itself. We would like to refuse the opinion that programming is not funny. In our mind, one of possible solutions could be robots which are able to be programmed through simple programming languages. Many researches show that using robots in the process of teaching programming increase motivation, logical and algorithmic thinking of students. The article deals with the programmable robot Phiro Unplugged PRO which is suitable for educational purposes within programming. Phiro Pro robot offers five different ways of programming depending on difficulty simple sequential programming, swish cards, Scratch, Phiro Code, and Sn

AnnotationThe aim of this overview research study is to present the current trends in research on teachers based on a qualitative content analysis of more than 4000 educational studies and journal abstracts. Behind this procedure, there were two main questions a) to find out the trajectory of research on teachers during the last seven decades (diachronic view on research on teachers); and b) to reveal the present trends and focus of research on teachers under the influence of the current societal context across several countries of the world (synchronic view on research on teachers).

AnnotationExamining children's constructs of two basic moral values good and evil was prompted by the real concern of the authors over the present situation in which the youngest generation of children and young people are growing up. As moral values are considered to be among the main factors that determine and regulate human behaviour, one of the main solutions from the side of governments in the current societal moral crisis is to emphasize the improvement of moral education, predominantly as an effort to promote critical thinking and positive values in human relationships. Researching and describing the process of constructing moral knowledge, moral judgments and the personalization of moral values may significantly affect the way students perceive their surroundings, real events as well as assist with the students' verbal expressions of their own hierarchy of values.

AnnotationThe purpose of this study was to shed some light on (1) how a sample of pre-school student teachers conceptualise the child ' s learning, (2) how they describe the child ' s learning in different developmental stages, (3) how they ascertain that the child has learned something, (4) how they relate teachers ' practices to the child ' s learning? The data were gathered by in-depth interviews with 35 students who were enrolled in the first semester of the pre-school education bachelor ' s programme in a university in the Czech Republic. In the participants descriptions, learning is acquisition of knowledge and skills, or better, elimination of unknowingness. The fundamental way of the pre-school learning is observation and imitation, less frequently it is trial and error learning. Adults, especially parents are ample models for observational learning. The play is an important frame for the child ' s learning and the pre-school teacher, in fact, " wraps up" the learning to the form of the

AnnotationThe paper presents a holistic model of preschool, elementary school and high school teachers' training that is structured for novice teachers, expert teachers, and teacher mentors. This model is composed of 16 instructional modules of which each has a specific instructional aim in the professional development of teachers. The project was created thanks to the Fund for Education Policy of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic. It is implemented by the Faculty of Humanities at Tomas Bata University in Zlin since 2014. The authors present the partial outcomes of the project evaluation of the selected instructional modules.
