AnnotationErrors are in our society often seen as an undesirable phenomenon which teacher tries to avoid and also leads students to avoid them. Generally, little is said about errors as an educational tool that can provide good learning opportunities. This paper shows the results of the interviews, where twelve teachers of mathematics were confronted about their ways of using errors as a learning tool. The paper also stresses the importance of dealing with errors in a preparation of teachers of mathematics

AnnotationThe three parts contained in this textbook are based on the lecture notes ALGEBRA I – III published by the present authors about twenty years ago in Slovak language. The textbook presents those three volumes of lecture notes together as one unit of BASIC ALGEBRA intended mainly for future teachers of Mathematics. What is new with this second edition is that answers, solutions or at least hints are provided at the end of the textbook to all 271 exercises presented in it (113 exercises in Part I, 56 exercises in Part II and 102 exercises in Part III). These answers or solutions, which of course prolonged the second edition, will be of help to the students or other interested readers of this textbook (even more in the present times of pandemics). Since the second author of this textbook retired a few years ago and decided not be involved in preparation of this second edition, the answers or solutions to exercises at the end of the textbook were prepared together with one of gifted present students of Mathematics, Ing. Veronika Remenárová. Within the time period of five years from the publication of the first edition of this textbook in January 2016, its Parts I and II have been used by the first author every academic year as the primary teaching material for the existing one semester courses Algebra I and Algebra II at Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica. These two courses have been aimed, at the Bc level, for future teachers of Mathematics in their third year of study as well as for students of a purely Mathematics degree in their second year of study. Part III of the textbook has been used for the course Linear algebra I for the first year students of Mathematics at Matej Bel University. The answers, solutions or hints provided to the exercises in this textbook have already assisted the present students under the difficult circumstances during the pandemics.

AnnotationInovácia v obsahu a rozsahu vzdelávania v matematike na základnej a strednej škole si vyžaduje zmenu v didaktickej príprave učiteľov matematiky. Vysoké školy pripravujúce učiteľov matematiky nereagujú vždy na tieto potreby s dostatočnou pružnosťou. Inovačné štúdium učiteľov matematiky prechádza opäť novými zmenami. Článok opisuje smery didaktického výskumu na Slovensku a pojednáva o potrebných zmenách v príprave učiteľov matematiky na vysokých školách. Resmé:Innovation in content and scope of education in mathematics for primary and secondary school requires a change in the teaching of mathematics teacher education. Colleges preparing teachers of mathematics always respond to these needs with sufficient flexibility. Innovative study of mathematics teacher passes back the new changes. The paper describes guidelines for teaching and research in Slovakia, discusses the changes required in the preparation of mathematics teachers at universities
