We attempt to accomplish that goal through analysis based on f ollowing chosen novels: Human Rites, Attack, Fear and Trembling, The Book of Proper Name s, Antichrista. The heroines of these novels and play are very spec ific characters what is expressed by use of bizarre names and their destinies are ext raordinary as well. We try to offer an answer to the question, if characters of Nothomb's pieces resemble to the writer. We also ask, if the girls suffering by mental anorexia havi ng problems with their adolescence are passionate readers, too. Their attitudes to the not ions such as beauty, love and friendship are peculiar as well. These are the characters who cannot be easily integrated into society and environment where they live. In order to reach our objective we use the methods such as analysis and comparison. Our ideas are supported by monographs o f Laureline Amanieux, Michel David and Michel Zumkir and by periodicals.
