The increased interest in persuasiveness results from the promotional and consumerist nature of the modern society which allows for the persuasive content to overcome the borders of the traditional persuasive genres such as advertisements or business correspondence aiming to increase the sales. The article focuses on selected aspects of this phenomenon which can be identified in the written academic discourse, specifically in research article introductions.
